2027 Presidential Manifesto: Makinde Criticizes Leaders, Proposes National Unity Government
Oyo governor and APM candidate Seyi Makinde has unveiled his presidential manifesto, criticizing current leaders for their failures and proposing a government of national unity.

In a move that has stirred controversy, the governor of Oyo State and presidential candidate for the African People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has unveiled his presidential manifesto for the 2027 elections. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Makinde criticized Nigerian leaders for their poor performance and lack of vision, stating that their focus on personal gain has led to the country’s current state of affairs.
According to Premium Times Nigeria, the APM candidate proposed a government of national unity, aiming to bring together political, ethnic, and religious leaders to work towards a common goal of national development. He also suggested an electoral threshold to encourage political alliances and discourage divisive politics.
‘We cannot continue with the same old politics of division and self-interest. It is time for a change, a reset,’ Makinde said at the event.
Makinde’s manifesto has been met with mixed reactions, with some hailing it as a bold step towards national unity, while others have criticized it as a power grab by the APM. TheCable reports that Makinde accused current leaders of being ‘poor in ideas’ and unable to address the country’s problems.
The 2027 elections are still over a year away, and it remains to be seen whether Makinde’s manifesto will gain traction among Nigerian voters. However, his proposal for a government of national unity could shake up the political landscape and force other candidates to address the issue of national unity in their campaigns.
