2027 Presidential Elections: Ohanaeze Canada Urges Ndigbo to Prioritize Participation

In a statement released on October 20, 2026, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada, an Igbo socio-cultural organization based in Canada, has urged Nigerians of Igbo descent to prioritize participation in the 2027 presidential election, according to Vanguard News. The group emphasized the importance of Igbo voters’ involvement in shaping Nigeria’s future. This call comes as the 2027 elections are fast approaching.

The statement, however, did not specify which candidate or party the organization is endorsing.

In a separate development, the Ogun State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027 and Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, for the Ogun State governorship election, according to Tribune Online. However, it’s essential to note that this endorsement is limited to the Ogun State chapter and might not represent the views of Ohanaeze Ndigbo as a whole.

This development highlights the political activism of Igbo organizations both at home and in the diaspora, and their role in shaping the political landscape of Nigeria.
