2027: Questioning Atiku’s Sources of Funding for His University

President Tinubu has challenged Nigerians to ask former Vice President Atiku Abubakar how he acquired funds to build his university while in office.

President Bola Tinubu has stirred controversy with his latest challenge to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. During a public event, Tinubu urged Nigerians to inquire about the sources of funding Atiku used to establish his American University of Nigeria (AUN) while still serving as Vice President. According to Vanguard News, Tinubu accused Atiku of using public resources to further his private interests.

The challenge has reignited questions about the funding of Atiku’s university, which was founded in 2005. Critics have long speculated that Atiku may have used public funds or influenced government contracts to finance the institution’s construction.

Atiku has not publicly responded to Tinubu’s challenge. The AUN, however, has denied any impropriety, stating that it was funded entirely through private investments and donations.

The controversy serves as a reminder of the ongoing debate about the use of public funds for private ventures by Nigerian politicians. While the specifics of Atiku’s university funding remain unclear, the issue highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
