Just days after the conviction of nine crude oil thieves by a Federal High Court in Uyo, the Nigerian Navy has made another significant seizure. According to Premium Times Nigeria, naval officials uncovered over 119,850 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Rivers State. This latest success is part of Operation DELTA SENTINEL, a joint military-police effort aimed at curbing oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta region.
The exact location where the oil was found has not been disclosed. However, this operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle the issue of crude oil theft, which is a significant drain on Nigeria’s economy and environment.
