The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a warning for residents in Anambra State, as floods continue to pose a threat. According to Priscilla Madukwe, Head of Operations for NEMA’s Enugu Zonal Office, a recent incident at Ring Road, Nibo, where school children were trapped in a flooded road, was particularly heartbreaking.
Madukwe urged residents to take extra precautions during this period and avoid areas prone to flooding. The exact extent of the flooding and its impact on infrastructure remains unclear.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted further rains in several parts of the country, including Anambra, over the coming days. This raises concerns about potential increases in flood levels and their consequences.
