In a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has called for due process and credibility in the ongoing investigation into the deaths of 37 miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. According to Tribune Online’s report, the JNI joins the Arewa Think Tank in demanding that the probe be conducted fairly, transparently, and with the utmost integrity.
The demand follows a tragic incident on September 23, where 37 miners lost their lives while under the watch of the NSCDC. The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed by the NSCDC.
This development has sparked widespread concern and calls for accountability from various quarters, including religious and community leaders.
