In a series of reports by various news outlets, it was revealed that the NSCDC made the arrests following intelligence received about the illegal activities. According to Premium Times, the suspects were found with a truck loaded with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) petroleum pipes in Abuja’s FCT Headquarters. Radio Nigeria Abuja reported that the arrest occurred at the HQ of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRCN). The Whistler Newspaper, Daily Post Nigeria, and Independent Newspaper Nigeria all reported similar accounts, while Blueprint Nigeria revealed that a syndicate behind pipeline vandalism in Abuja has been busted by the NSCDC. The exact nature and extent of the vandalism are yet to be disclosed by the NNPC or the relevant authorities.
