According to reports from Vanguard News and Daily Post Nigeria, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the newly unveiled African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship ticket of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Babatunde Gbadamosi. The APC’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, described this political combination as a ‘political experiment’.
In his statement on Thursday, Mr. Oladejo argued that the emergence of these opposition figures did not pose any significant threat to the APC’s dominance in Lagos State politics.
‘The newly unveiled ticket is nothing more than a political experiment aimed at diverting attention from the ruling party’s achievements,’ said Oladejo. ‘We are fully confident that Lagosians will continue to support the APC in 2027, as they have always done.’
This dismissal comes ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The ADC, a relatively small political party, is yet to prove its potential in the highly competitive Lagos State political landscape.
The Lagos APC’s confidence in their electoral prospects contrasts with growing dissatisfaction among some segments of the population who are calling for greater political diversity and representation.
