For the second consecutive year, Kano State has taken the lead in the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE). The Governor of Kano State made this announcement, stating that the state has maintained its first position in NECO for two consecutive years (2025 and 2026).
According to Premium Times Nigeria, "Kano has maintained the first position in NECO twice in a row, making the state as the leading SSCE performer for the two consecutive years, (2025 and 2026), respectively."
Punch Newspapers reported that Kano State had 74,413 candidates who obtained at least five credits in the 2026 NECO exams. This number surpasses other states in Nigeria, with Lagos coming in a close second.
