Fuel price reduction announced by NNPCL in Abuja

In a move that could ease the financial burden on consumers, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a reduction in petrol prices in Abuja. A market survey by Daily Post Nigeria showed that NNPCL retail outlets in Gwarimpa, Kubwa and other parts of the city had adjusted their petrol prices to N1,405 per litre from N1,430 per litre.

The reduction comes as President Bola Tinubu’s administration grapples with the ongoing fuel crisis in the country. The president, who was elected on a platform of economic recovery and prosperity, has faced criticism over his handling of the fuel situation, with many Nigerians struggling to afford the high cost of petrol.

Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has called on Tinubu to increase workers’ minimum wage. Abubakar accused the president of presiding over a ruthless economic squeeze in which workers are paid more on paper and condemned to live below subsistence level.

The NNPCL has not yet confirmed when the facility began operating or provided any further details about the reduction in petrol prices.
