According to reports from Independent.ng, the project is a collaborative effort by several organizations and experts to combat disinformation in various forms, including AI-driven misinformation.
The need for such an initiative becomes apparent given the rising concerns over the influence of social media and digital platforms on elections worldwide. In Nigeria, the 2019 general elections were marred by fake news and disinformation that reportedly affected voter turnout and even influenced some election outcomes.
