Workers Threaten National Strike Over Petrol Price Hike and Wage Award

Public sector workers in Nigeria are threatening to go on strike starting October 2 if the government fails to reduce fuel prices and approve a wage award. The threat was issued by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), according to reports from multiple news sources including The Guardian Nigeria News, Punch Newspapers, and Vanguard News. The workers are expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent increase in petrol prices and the delay in the implementation of a new wage award. If the government does not address these issues by October 1, the JNPSNC has threatened to commence a three-day warning strike.
