Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has taken a significant step towards his potential presidential bid in 2027 by appointing a seasoned politician and former Minister of Aviation, Felix Hyat, as the Director-General for his campaign management committee. According to multiple sources, this appointment was announced on September 30th. The governor’s choice of Hyat, a former Kaduna State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is seen as a strategic move, given Hyat’s extensive experience in politics and his service in various capacities under past PDP administrations.
This development comes at a time when several political heavyweights are positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race. Makinde has been rumored to be considering a run since his successful tenure as governor. As speculation continues, Hyat’s appointment adds credibility to these rumors and positions the Oyo State governor as a serious contender in the upcoming elections.
