Court Halts APC Primary Election in Gombe State

In a surprising development, a High Court in Gombe State has invalidated the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency. According to Premium Times Nigeria and Tribune Online, the court ruled that the exercise failed to comply with provisions of the Electoral Act. As a result, the winner of the disputed primary, Honourable Ali Isa JC, has been barred from participating in any fresh primary election. The exact implications of this ruling are yet unclear, as the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have not issued statements regarding the matter. This decision could potentially delay the electoral process for the constituency, adding to the ongoing political tensions in Gombe State. Nigerians eagerly await further developments.
