Ekiti Governor Predicts Tech Hub Status by 2056

In a bold declaration that is sure to set tongues wagging in Nigerian tech circles, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has predicted that his state will become Nigeria’s technology hub within the next thirty years. Speaking at a recent event, the governor hailed the remarkable strides and progress that Ekiti has made since its creation, expressing confidence in its future potential. ‘I have no doubt that within the next three decades, Ekiti State will establish itself as a leading tech hub in Nigeria’, said Governor Oyebanji according to reports by Tribune Online.

The governor’s statement comes at a time when Nigeria’s tech industry is experiencing rapid growth and attracting significant international investment. However, it remains to be seen whether Ekiti will be able to position itself as a major player in this competitive landscape. The state currently lacks some of the key infrastructure and resources needed to compete with established tech hubs like Lagos and Abuja.

Nonetheless, Governor Oyebanji’s prediction is not without precedent. Other African countries have successfully transformed themselves into tech powerhouses in recent years, such as Rwanda and Kenya. If Ekiti can leverage its resources and attract the necessary investment, it too could become a major player in Nigeria’s tech scene.
