More Lives Lost in Anambra Communal Clash: Four More Die in Otuocha

The ongoing communal dispute in Anambra state has led to a tragic escalation, with four more lives lost as of Monday, October 3rd. The latest deaths occurred amidst widespread destruction of houses and shops in the affected areas. In a disturbing viral video, voices could be heard ordering men to shoot on sight. As a result, many residents have fled their homes for safety.

The Anambra state government has responded by shutting down Otuocha market, which is a significant commercial hub in the region. The cause of the conflict remains unclear as no official statement has been made by either party involved.

This tragic event marks yet another incident of communal violence in Nigeria, with similar clashes occurring in different parts of the country in recent years. The escalating violence raises concerns about the state’s ability to maintain peace and order, especially in regions where ethnic tensions are high.

The federal government has not yet issued a statement regarding this latest incident. However, President Buhari has previously condemned similar acts of violence and called for peaceful resolution of disputes.
