In response to the devastating air disaster that occurred in Ondo State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has established a condolence register in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. According to reports by Punch Newspapers, this move is aimed at providing a platform for mourners to express their sympathies over the loss of 32 lives, including military personnel and crew members.
The air crash happened on October 6 in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The Nigerian Air Force has not yet revealed when the facility began operating or any specific details about the process.
In a related development, the Senate has postponed its planned National Security Summit, initially set for October 12 and 13, due to the tragedy. The decision was made to honour the victims of the air disaster, as reported by Vanguard News.
‘Vice-President Kashim Shettima has paid tribute to the officers and those who lost their lives in this tragic incident’, said THISDAYLIVE. ‘The nation owes an enduring debt of gratitude to these fallen heroes, and we stand with their bereaved families’.
According to reports by various news outlets, including Punch Newspapers and Tribune Online, several organizations have also expressed their condolences over the air crash. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has sent a technical team to assist in recovery efforts, while the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has mourned the victims.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, with President Tinubu ordering a probe into the incident. An APC chieftain, Tolu Bankole, commended the President for this action, as reported by Punch Newspapers.
