The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has assured foreign and local investors of a strong legal environment in Nigeria that will protect their interests, according to multiple reports. In a statement, Fagbemi stressed that the government is committed to creating a business-friendly legal environment that encourages investment.
“Nigeria is creating a legal environment where investors can have confidence,” Fagbemi said at a recent investors’ forum in Abuja. “We have laws in place that will protect their interests and ensure that they can operate freely and profitably in the country.”
Fagbemi’s assurances come as the Nigerian government seeks to attract more foreign investments to boost the economy. The government has recently launched several initiatives aimed at improving the ease of doing business in the country and reducing corruption, with the hope of making Nigeria a more attractive destination for investors.
While the Nigerian government has made efforts to improve the investment climate, it remains to be seen how effective these efforts will be in attracting more foreign investments. The country still faces numerous challenges, including insecurity, corruption, and a weak infrastructure, which have deterred many investors in the past.
The AGF’s assurances are a positive development, however, and could help to boost investor confidence in Nigeria. It remains to be seen whether this will translate into increased investment in the country in the coming months.
