Ex-wife Seeks Custody of Children, Monthly Maintenance of N450,000 in Kaduna

Lauratu Sani, a mother of three, is seeking the custody of her children and a monthly maintenance payment of N450,000 from her ex-husband, Muhammad Shehu, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The case was brought before a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, Kaduna State. According to Sani’s lawyer, Fatima Umar, Sani has been denied access to her children by her ex-husband. Umar argued that Sani’s ex-husband has no valid reason to deny her access to their children and that she is seeking custody to ensure their wellbeing. The court hearing is ongoing, with a decision expected in due course.

This story matters to Nigerian readers as it highlights the complexities and challenges that can arise in child custody disputes. It also underscores the importance of legal recourse for parents seeking fair and just treatment in such disputes.
