The High Commission also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. Premium Times Nigeria reported that the Nigerian consulate in South Africa stated that reports that the deceased, identified as Mr Odueze, was tortured by police officers before his death had caused shock and pain to his family, the Nigerian community, and Nigeria’s two diplomatic missions in South Africa.
