The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has voiced its skepticism over President Bola Tinubu’s intention to seek re-election in 2027, according to reports by Vanguard News and Tribune Online. Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, stated that Tinubu’s approach to the electorate suggests a lack of accountability for his first term in office. Shaibu, speaking to Vanguard News, asserted that Tinubu’s refusal to engage directly with Nigerians is a ‘clear act of contempt’ against the people. He went on to accuse the All Progressives Congress (APC) of having a history of disregard for the Nigerian public. The ADC’s criticism comes as President Tinubu prepares for his re-election campaign. According to Tribune Online, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged Tinubu to account for his first term before seeking another mandate from the Nigerian people. The ADC’s stance against Tinubu’s re-election bid may reflect broader dissatisfaction within the political landscape as the 2027 elections approach.
