NSIB Investigates Mid-Air Door Separation on Foreign-Registered Aircraft

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has begun investigating a Triton Aviation aircraft that lost a door mid-air after departing Abuja for Lagos, according to reports from multiple news outlets. The incident occurred on October 16, but the exact time is unconfirmed. According to Punch Newspapers, the aircraft made an emergency landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Blueprint Newspapers and Premium Times Nigeria also reported the emergency landing. ConsumerConnect and allAfrica.com also mentioned the NSIB’s investigation, but did not specify whether the aircraft had made an emergency landing. It’s not yet clear when the facility began operating or what caused the door to separate mid-air. The NSIB has not released any official statement regarding the investigation’s progress.
