According to the Daily Post Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 general election, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has voiced his disapproval over the fresh N100 billion loan approved by the Oyo State House of Assembly for Governor Seyi Makinde. The criticisms come as the 2027 elections draw closer. Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, described the approval as another attempt to saddle the state with more debts, potentially impacting the state’s financial stability and development. The APC candidate emphasized the need for prudent financial management and called for a more transparent approach in seeking and managing loans. While the Governor’s office has not yet responded to these criticisms, the approval of this loan is a hot topic in Oyo State’s political landscape. The loan is part of a larger budget proposal for the 2027 fiscal year, which is yet to be fully approved by the state assembly. According to Daily Post Nigeria, this is not the first time Alli has criticized Governor Makinde’s financial decisions, citing concerns about the state’s debt profile and financial sustainability.
