Former Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has mourned the passing of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. In a statement on Thursday, Oyinlola described the late centenarian as a father figure to Yorubaland and a Nigerian nationalist whose death had deprived the nation of the wisdom and protective presence that he provided. According to Tribune Online, Oyinlola’s statement read in part, ‘I received the news of the passing of the Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, with a heavy heart. He was a father figure to Yorubaland and a Nigerian nationalist whose departure has left a significant void in our political landscape.’ The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) also mourned the loss of Pa Fasoranti, describing him as a man of wisdom and integrity who contributed immensely to the unity of Nigeria. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the ACF National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Jibrin Ibrahim, said, ‘Pa Fasoranti was a man of wisdom and integrity who contributed immensely to the unity of Nigeria. His death is a great loss not only to Yorubaland but to the entire nation.’ It is unclear at this time when the funeral arrangements for the late Afenifere leader will be announced. Pa Fasoranti died on October 21, 2026, at the age of 102.
