Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has commended the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road, stating that it has ended decades of reliance on boats and helicopters to access Bonny Island. Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom on Saturday, Wike, who is also the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, highlighted the significance of the infrastructure project. According to Tribune Online, Wike said, ‘This road is a key achievement of the Tinubu administration. It has ended the era of our dependence on boats and helicopters to access Bonny Island.’
The Bonny-Bodo Road, which connects the mainland with Bonny Island in Rivers State, was a notorious bottleneck for commuters and businesses in the region. Its completion is expected to boost economic activities and improve the standard of living for residents. This development underscores the government’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s transportation infrastructure, a critical component for economic growth and development.
