The Presidency has taken a jab at the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) over its recently unveiled National Campaign Council list for the upcoming 2027 elections. According to the Presidency, the list, which has Peter Obi as co-chairman, is filled with content creators, not genuine politicians.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, made this remark on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday. The Presidency’s comments come as the NDC prepares for its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, set to take place on Monday, where the presidential campaign council will be unveiled.
The NDC, led by Henry Seriake Dickson, has faced criticism for its approach to the 2027 elections, with some accusing the party of relying too heavily on social media influencers and content creators for their campaign strategy. The Presidency’s criticism could be seen as an attempt to further undermine the NDC’s credibility in the eyes of voters.
The NDC, in response to the Presidency’s remarks, has not issued a formal statement. However, it is expected that the party will address the issue during its NEC meeting on Monday.
According to the NDC’s list, which was made public on Sunday, the party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi will serve as co-chairman, while former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be co-vice-chairman. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, who is the party’s national leader, will chair the council. The list also includes several other high-profile figures, such as former Governor Adamu Mu’azu and Senator Bukola Saraki, who will serve as vice-chairmen.
