Police Rescue Three Girls from Human Trafficking in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has rescued three girls from a suspected human trafficking operation in Badagry, according to Punch Newspapers.

The Lagos State Police Command has rescued three young girls from a suspected human trafficking operation in Badagry, according to a report by Punch Newspapers. The girls, whose ages were not disclosed, were reportedly rescued in an early-morning raid on a building in Badagry, a town known for its busy port and trading activities. The police are now working to track down the traffickers and any other victims who may be involved. The incident underscores the ongoing issue of human trafficking in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, a hub for both domestic and international trafficking. According to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), more than 40,000 victims of human trafficking have been identified in Nigeria since 2003. The agency has called on the public to report any suspected cases of human trafficking to its hotline. The police have not said when the facility where the girls were being held began operating, or if any other trafficking victims were present at the time of the raid.
