ADC Demands Arrest of Sokoto Marshals over Alleged Attack on Governorship Candidate
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has demanded the arrest of Sokoto Marshals over an alleged attack on its governorship candidate, Alhaji Munir Dan-Iya.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the arrest of operatives from the Sokoto Marshals, a local security outfit, over an alleged attack on its governorship candidate, Alhaji Munir Dan-Iya. The demand was made by the ADC Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Yemi Kolapo. According to the statement, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 30, in Sokoto, the capital city of Sokoto State. The ADC-PCC alleged that the Sokoto Marshals, who are said to be working in collaboration with the Sokoto State Government, attacked Dan-Iya and his supporters while they were campaigning in the Sabon-Gari area of the city. The ADC-PCC described the attack as ‘unprovoked and unjustified,’ and demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible. The ADC-PCC also gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the Sokoto State Government and security agencies to take action against the perpetrators, warning that failure to do so would lead to further action by the party. The Sokoto State Government has not yet responded to the allegations. The African Democratic Congress is a political party in Nigeria that was formed in 2018. It fielded candidates in the 2019 general elections and has been active in the 2023 election cycle.
