Binance Heist: FBI Points Finger at North Korea Amid $6.3bn Crypto Theft

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance resumed withdrawals after a $6.3 billion heist, with the FBI reportedly linking the theft to North Korea.

Amid growing concerns from users, cryptocurrency exchange Binance has resumed withdrawals following a historic hack that resulted in the loss of approximately $6.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency. According to multiple reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has linked the theft to North Korea. This development comes after President Donald Trump called for an investigation into the matter.

Binance, in a statement over the weekend, disclosed that it had used the company’s funds to purchase tokens to replace the stolen assets. However, the exchange did not elaborate on the exact nature of the replacement process.

The FBI’s involvement in the investigation adds a new dimension to the case, as it suggests a possible link between the heist and a state actor. North Korea has been implicated in numerous cyber attacks in the past, and is known for its advanced cyber warfare capabilities.

This is a developing story, and more details are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
