Lawyer Slams Deputy Speaker Kalu for 60-year Igbo Presidency Wait Comment

A lawyer and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Agubuzu, has criticized Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu over his comment suggesting Igbos may have to wait 60 years for the presidency in exchange for four years.

In a scathing critique, lawyer and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Agubuzu, has taken aim at Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, over his recent comment regarding the potential wait time for Igbo presidency. According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, Kalu, while reacting to South-East stakeholders pushing for Igbo presidency, suggested that Igbos may have to wait 60 years for the position for just four years. Agubuzu’s response, however, was swift and blunt, stating that the people are ‘hungry’ and cannot afford to wait that long. ‘We are hungry, leave Igbo presidency talk’, Agubuzu is quoted as saying, expressing his frustration with the prolonged wait for Igbo leadership. The NDC chieftain’s remarks underscore the growing sentiment among Igbo politicians and the public for a more equitable distribution of political power in Nigeria.
