Aminu Tambuwal Interprets Sokoto’s Massive Turnout at Atiku’s Rally as Nigerians’ Desire for Change

Former Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, believes the huge crowd at Atiku Abubakar's rally in Sokoto demonstrates Nigerians' craving for change.

In a post-rally address, former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwar, has suggested that the massive turnout at the rally of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in Sokoto, indicates a strong desire among Nigerians for a change in leadership. According to the Tribune Online, the event which took place on Friday, 5th November, attracted a large crowd, with many Nigerians expressing their support for Atiku’s presidential bid.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, spoke about the significance of the rally, stating that the impressive turnout demonstrates Nigerians’ desire for change. He did not elaborate on what specific changes the crowd was demanding.

This is not the first time that Tambuwal has shown his support for Atiku. In October, he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, citing his belief in Atiku’s ability to lead Nigeria out of its current challenges.

Atiku, who is a former Vice President of Nigeria, has been campaigning across the country ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. His campaign promises focus on job creation, improving infrastructure, and fighting corruption.

The Tribune Online did not provide any figures on the number of people who attended the rally in Sokoto, nor did it indicate whether other political parties were represented at the event. However, Tambuwal’s interpretation of the turnout as a demonstration of Nigerians’ desire for change could be significant, as it suggests that Atiku’s campaign is gaining traction among Nigerians ahead of the elections.
