US Imposes Sanctions on Nigeria’s Vanguard Tactical Supply over Iran Missile Procurement
The United States has sanctioned a Nigerian firm, Vanguard Tactical Supply Limited, for allegedly attempting to facilitate Iran's efforts to acquire missile defense systems.

The United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced sanctions against a Nigeria-based entity, Vanguard Tactical Supply Limited. According to Daily Post Nigeria, this action is in response to the company’s alleged attempt to facilitate Iran’s efforts to procure man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS).
The US government also imposed sanctions on Mohammed Ali Tolibov, CEO of Belarus-based Armoury Alliance, and Alisher Domullodzhanov, based in Russia. The US links these individuals to the acquisition of Chinese-origin MANPADS, which are considered a threat to global peace and security.
This development underscores the ongoing global efforts to curb the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems. The US has been particularly vigilant in this regard, with numerous sanctions being imposed on individuals and entities involved in illicit arms deals.
The Vanguard Tactical Supply Limited is yet to comment on the sanctions. The exact nature and extent of its alleged involvement in the Iranian missile procurement are unclear, as are the potential implications for the company and the Nigerian business community at large.
