The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) over allegations of unpaid salaries, following a statement by the APC urging Nigerians to reject Atiku Abubakar and the ADC. According to Punch Newspapers, the APC accused Atiku of owing salaries to his staff, a claim the ADC dismissed as a distraction. However, the APC has not provided evidence to support these claims. The ADC, through its spokesperson Yemi Kolapo, demanded proof from the APC, stating that the allegations were politically motivated. The APC’s statement was made by its spokesperson Festus Keyamo. The APC has been criticised for its handling of the economy and its failure to deliver on several campaign promises, including job creation and the payment of salaries in a timely manner. The ADC’s response to the APC’s allegations adds another layer to the heated political debate ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the APC described the alleged unpaid salaries as ‘wicked and reprehensible’ and urged Nigerians to reject Atiku and the ADC. The APC’s statement comes as both parties continue to trade accusations in the lead-up to the elections.
