ADC Judgement: Amaechi Reveals Discussions with Atiku and David Mark to Prevent Unrest

Rotimi Amaechi, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has disclosed discussions he held with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senate President David Mark to prevent unrest following the invalidation of the party's leadership and nominations.

Rotimi Amaechi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has disclosed discussions he held with key party leaders in a bid to prevent unrest following the Federal High Court’s decision that invalidated the party’s leadership and nominations. According to Premium Times, Amaechi revealed that he spoke with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senate President David Mark to urge their supporters to remain calm in the face of the ruling.

The ADC, led by Chief Dumebi Kalu, was dissolved by the court on November 4, 2026, and all its nominations were declared null and void. This ruling came as a result of a suit filed by a faction of the party led by Chief Ralph Nwosu.

Amaechi, who served as the Minister of Transportation in the previous administration, is a prominent member of the ADC and has been vocal in his support for the party. The discussions he mentioned with Atiku Abubakar and David Mark are significant as they demonstrate an effort to maintain peace amidst the party’s internal conflict.

The ADC was formed in 2018 as a merger of several opposition parties, and it has been a minor player in Nigerian politics. However, the current crisis could have far-reaching consequences for the party and potentially for the political landscape in general.

This development underscores the importance of party leadership and the role they play in maintaining stability and order in Nigerian politics. The ADC crisis is a reminder of the challenges faced by political parties in Nigeria and the need for effective leadership and internal conflict resolution mechanisms.
