The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a seat in the Kano State House of Assembly after winning the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa State Constituency bye-election. According to Vanguard News, the APC’s candidate, Hussaini Yusuf Datti, secured 22,890 votes in the election held on September 18, 2026. The results are yet to be officially confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This victory comes as a boost for the APC ahead of the general elections scheduled for 2027. The party has been under pressure in Kano State, with opposition parties gaining ground in recent times.
However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the results, alleging irregularities and vote-buying. The PDP’s candidate, Umar Haruna Danbata, came in second with 12,830 votes, according to Vanguard News.
