Arewa Forum Urges FG to Reveal Details of $700bn US Mineral Deal

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a prominent Northern Nigerian socio-political organization, has urged the Federal Government to transparently inform Nigerians about the details of the proposed $700 billion mineral deal with the United States. According to the National Publicity Secretary of the forum, Professor Tukur Mohammed-Baba, the government needs to make public the specifics of the agreement, particularly what benefits Nigeria stands to gain from the deal.

Professor Mohammed-Baba made this call during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday, expressing concerns that Nigerians have not been adequately informed about the deal’s implications.

While the Federal Government has yet to release details of the agreement, it has stated that the deal aims to boost Nigeria’s mineral exploration and extraction industries. The deal is reportedly the largest ever between Nigeria and any foreign entity, and it is expected to significantly impact the country’s economy.
