Atiku’s Production Subsidy: Politics vs Economics

According to Premium Times Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has proposed a capped and budgeted production subsidy. This proposal, made in his Independence Day policy statement, has raised questions about the balance between politics and economics. While Atiku claims the subsidy would stimulate the economy, critics argue it could lead to mismanagement and corruption. The Nigerian government has not yet responded to the proposal. As the country heads towards the 2027 elections, the debate around economic policies and their implications for Nigeria’s future is heating up.
