In a significant development for Nigerian politics, a legal challenge against the emergence of former Cross River Governor, Donald Duke, as the presidential candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has been dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja. According to THISDAYLIVE, Justice Mohammed Umar ruled that the plaintiffs failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims.
The lawsuit, which was filed by a group of party members, had argued that Duke’s nomination was illegal and against the party’s constitution. However, the court found otherwise, upholding Duke’s nomination as the PRP’s presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.
This dismissal marks a significant step forward in Duke’s bid for the presidency, and it remains to be seen how this will impact the political landscape in Nigeria. As the election approaches, Nigerians eagerly await the candidates’ manifestos and promises, hoping for positive change and development.
