DBN Launches DAWN to Boost Nigerian Women-Owned Businesses

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has launched a new initiative called DAWN (Delivering Aid for Women Now) to help women-led businesses scale and grow in Nigeria. According to Businessday NG, the initiative aims to provide these businesses with the necessary financing and support they need to thrive. The launch of DAWN is part of DBN’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the country. The bank has been working to increase access to finance for women-owned businesses, which are often disadvantaged in Nigeria’s traditional financial system. The launch of DAWN is expected to help more women-led businesses access the funding and resources they need to grow and succeed. The initiative is open to women-led businesses across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, and services. It remains unclear what specific support DAWN will offer beyond financing, but Businessday NG reports that the bank will work closely with partners to provide comprehensive support to participating businesses. As more details about DAWN emerge, it is expected to be a significant boost for women-owned businesses in Nigeria, which have been struggling to secure funding and grow amidst a challenging economic environment. The launch of DAWN is a positive step towards promoting gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Nigeria, and it is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economic growth and development.
