In a bid to curb the escalating cult activities in Delta State, the police have arrested 29 suspected cultists following two separate operations at Eku and Owhelogbo communities. The Delta State Police Command made this known through its spokesperson, Onome Onowakpoyeya, who disclosed that the latest arrests bring the total number of cultists apprehended in recent months to 47.
According to Tribune Online, the first operation led to the arrest of 15 suspected cultists at Eku, while the second operation netted seven suspects at Owhelogbo. The police also recovered arms and ammunition during the raids.
This development comes after the arrest of seven suspected cultists in Edo State, as reported by Daily Post Nigeria on October 3rd. In that incident, the police recovered a stolen six-month-old baby and apprehended suspects linked to the alleged sexual abuse and online exposure of a young girl in Ekiadolor.
These arrests underscore the urgent need for concerted efforts to tackle cult activities in Delta and other parts of Nigeria. The police have encouraged members of the public to cooperate with them in providing information that could lead to the arrest of more suspects.
