DSS Nabs Faisal Maina, Son of Ex-Pension Boss, in Abuja

In a significant development, the Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, the son of the controversial ex-pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, in Abuja. According to multiple sources, the DSS apprehended Faisal in the Karsana area of the capital city and handed him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation. Faisal, who has been on the run, is said to have secretly returned to Nigeria before his arrest. This development comes after the Nigerian government declared him wanted in July 2021 for alleged financial crimes.

It is noteworthy that Abdulrasheed Maina, the father, is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence for corruption-related offences. His son, Faisal, has been a subject of several investigations in connection with alleged financial malfeasance. However, the DSS and the EFCC have not confirmed the details of Faisal’s arrest or when he is expected to appear in court.

This arrest is significant as it demonstrates the ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to address corruption and bring suspected criminals to justice. The exact charges against Faisal Maina remain unclear at this time, but it is expected that the EFCC will provide more details in due course.
