EPL: Havertz Lifts Arsenal to 1-0 Win Over Liverpool, Moving Them Top of the Table
Germany international Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Germany international Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night, moving them to the top of the English Premier League (EPL) table with 24 points. The victory was a crucial one for Mikel Arteta’s side, who had lost their previous two games against Manchester United and Newcastle United. Liverpool, on the other hand, slipped to third place, level on points with Manchester City, who suffered a surprise 1-0 home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The goal came in the 33rd minute when Havertz capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, firing home from close range. Liverpool had chances to equalise, with Mohamed Salah going closest when he hit the post in the second half.
After the match, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville criticised Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for his reaction to a challenge during the game. Neville described Magalhaes’ actions as ‘absolutely embarrassing’, accusing him of exaggerating contact and holding his face following a clash with Liverpool’s Diogo Jota.
The win will boost Arsenal’s confidence ahead of their next EPL game against Brentford on Sunday.
