In an effort to tackle unemployment and boost economic growth, the Federal Government has embarked on a vocational training programme for 777 Nigerian youths. The initiative was flagged off in Abuja, as reported by multiple news outlets including the News Agency of Nigeria and The Guardian Nigeria News.
According to reports, the training will focus on various trades such as welding, carpentry, tailoring, and others that are in high demand in the local job market. The training centres have been set up across different states to ensure accessibility for all beneficiaries.
This initiative is expected to provide the youths with practical skills that will make them more employable and potentially self-employed. It also aligns with the government’s commitment towards addressing youth unemployment, a persistent challenge in Nigeria.
While the exact number of trainees per state was not disclosed, the programme is part of a broader plan to train one million Nigerian youths within three years.
