The federal government has come under scrutiny recently due to a proposed external loan of $21.7 billion. However, in a move to quell concerns, the government has defended the loan, insisting that the funds are intended for productive investments in critical areas such as infrastructure and key projects.
According to reports from THISDAYLIVE, the government maintains that the funds will not be used frivolously, but rather, will be directed towards projects that will contribute significantly to the country’s development.
The loan, if approved, will be the largest external loan in Nigeria’s history. Critics have raised concerns over the country’s ability to service such a large debt, given its current economic challenges.
The federal government, however, remains optimistic, stating that the loan will be a strategic move towards accelerating the country’s development.
This development comes at a time when the government is actively seeking to attract foreign investment, with the aim of boosting the economy and creating jobs for millions of Nigerians.
