Four African Universities Collaborate to Enhance Education for Nomadic Pastoralists
Four African universities, including Nigeria's MAAUN, have formed a consortium to improve access to education for nomadic pastoralists and marginalized groups.

In a significant move aimed at enhancing access to education for nomadic pastoralists and marginalized communities, four African universities have joined forces to form a consortium. Among the participating institutions is Nigeria’s Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAAUN), according to Punch Newspapers. The collaboration seeks to address the unique challenges faced by nomadic pastoralists in gaining a quality education. The other universities involved are the University of Khartoum in Sudan, the University of Gondar in Ethiopia, and Moi University in Kenya. The consortium is expected to develop tailored educational programs and strategies to cater to the needs of these nomadic communities, providing them with the opportunity to receive education despite their itinerant lifestyle. By improving access to education, the consortium aims to empower these communities, fostering social and economic development. This collaborative effort is a testament to the growing recognition of the importance of education in addressing the unique challenges faced by nomadic pastoralists across Africa.
