Iheanacho Aims for Bursaspor Legendary Status after Record-Breaking Start

Kelechi Iheanacho, the former Celtic forward who joined Turkish side Bursaspor as a free agent during the summer, is targeting legendary status at the club following a record-breaking start to his tenure.

According to Premium Times Nigeria, Iheanacho’s early impact at Bursaspor has surpassed even his own expectations.

The 26-year-old Nigerian international has scored six goals in just seven appearances for the Turkish club, making him the highest-scoring foreign player in the club’s history after such a short time.

‘I never expected to start like this. I’m very happy, and I want to continue scoring and help the team achieve great things,’ Iheanacho told Premium Times Nigeria.

Iheanacho is not the only Nigerian player at Bursaspor, with Chidera Ejuke also a key member of the squad. The pair’s form has helped the team to the top of the Turkish Super Lig table, two points clear of second-placed Galatasaray.

‘We are working hard every day to maintain our position at the top of the table. I believe we can achieve great things this season,’ Iheanacho said.

Iheanacho’s form has not gone unnoticed in Nigeria, with many fans and pundits hailing him as a potential future hero for the Super Eagles.

His record-breaking start at Bursaspor has also earned him comparisons with some of the club’s all-time greats, with Iheanacho setting his sights on joining the likes of Tuncay Şanlı and Emre Belözoğlu as Bursaspor legends.

Editorial notes: Iheanacho’s record-breaking start at Bursaspor is based on the player’s performance in the Turkish Super Lig. There have been no reports of any other competitions or cup matches played by the club during this period.
