INEC Provisional Clearance Granted to Pantami and Gwarzo for 2027 Elections

A flurry of reports suggests that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken a significant step towards the 2027 elections by granting provisional clearance to two notable politicians. According to Vanguard News and Tribune Online, the Commission might have cleared Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, and Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State. Vanguard News and Tribune Online reported the development on Thursday night. It is worth noting that these reports are yet to be independently confirmed, and the INEC has not yet made a formal announcement regarding the clearance of these candidates. The reasons behind the clearance and the political implications of this move remain to be seen. Nigerians eagerly await the official confirmation of the candidates and the commencement of the electoral process towards the 2027 elections.
