INEC Seeks Support from South-East Royal Fathers for Peaceful Polls in 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has embarked on a tour to engage traditional rulers in the South-East, aiming to secure their support for peaceful elections in 2027, according to Tribune Online. This initiative follows a series of operational tests under the commission’s current leadership, including three off-cycle governorship elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun, one FCT Area Council election, and 16 bye-elections. The South-East region has witnessed significant electoral challenges in the past, and INEC’s outreach is aimed at fostering a conducive environment for free, fair, and peaceful elections in the future. The engagement with traditional rulers is expected to continue as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections.
