Fighting Food Insecurity and Flooding: Kano Targets 16,140 Homes with 5,380 Agricultural Projects

In an effort to combat food insecurity and flood-related issues in Kano, the state government has identified 16,140 households for intervention through the implementation of 5,380 agricultural projects, according to the Vanguard News. The projects, which vary in scope, are primarily aimed at controlling erosion. Some projects focus solely on erosion control, while others combine erosion remediation with road improvement. Vanguard News reports that several projects also involve the construction of bridges or culverts. This initiative is expected to bolster food production and alleviate the risks posed by flooding in the affected communities.

According to Vanguard News, the state government is prioritizing this project in response to the urgent need to address the challenges of food insecurity and floods in Kano. The publication did not specify when the projects are scheduled to commence.
