In a bid to curb the growing threat of flooding in several parts of Lagos State, the government has called on residents living in flood-prone areas to evacuate their homes immediately. According to reports from Premium Times Nigeria and Vanguard News, some of the affected areas include Eti-Osa, Kirikiri, and others that require immediate vigilance. The call comes as heavy rains continue to hit parts of Lagos, causing flooding in low-lying areas and disrupting daily activities.
The Lagos State Government has not said when the evacuation process will begin or how it plans to support affected residents during this transition. However, it is advisable for those living in flood-prone areas to start making arrangements for their relocation as soon as possible.
This move by the government follows a series of disasters caused by flooding in various parts of Nigeria over the past few months. In August, at least 10 people died and several others were displaced due to floods in Katsina State.
For residents in Lagos, it is crucial to heed the government’s call and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this rainy season.
